A brief history in my own words

I studied Costume interpretation and construction at London College of Fashion in the early 90’s . Initially far more interested in menswear I started my career as a freelance sewing hand and eventually got my first cutting position as a Junior Men’s Cutter at Opera Australia where I worked my way up before returning to the UK and taking up the Men’s Cutter and Head Tailor position at the National Theatre in London in 2002.

This fantastic theatre, situated on London’s South Bank, produces upwards of 20 new shows a year across 3 stages and meant that I was consistently working on a huge variety of productions and time periods with some of London’s top theatre designers.

In 2012, after 10 years, I took the scary decision to spread my wings and go freelance, Since then I have been Principal Cutter on many TV series including Outlander, BBC’s Musketeers, Carnival Row, Beecham House, Cursed, Becoming Elizabeth and the upcoming Shardlake.

This period has seen me re-embrace women’s wear, especially when recreating historic shapes, layering and construction techniques, as well as gain a love for working in linen and leather alongside other natural fabrics.

Tailor Pepys seem the next logical step forward in an ever evolving journey for perfection. It has seen me start to explore more the detailing from the periods I love as well as continue my practice of producing high quality period garments for stage and screen.
